  2. A little about myself: • Family – Monument, CO • D#11 Graduate • UNC - Bachelors in Elementary Education • UCCS - Masters in Educational Leadership • Type D certificate • 10thyear teaching • Kindergarten • 1st grade • Reading interventionist

  3. Goals forthe school year: • Build self-confidence in students • Grow socially, emotionally as well as academically • Show respect for self and others • Build social skills needed to be a good friend • Gain independence and celebrate unique abilities • Ability to take risks, have fun learning • Build foundation to be life-long learners

Classroom Management: • Stoplight System- Treasure Box Chart • Blue - 2 signatures in daily folder – Excellent! • Green- 1 signature in daily folder -- great day! • Yellow-Yellow check on feedback form – 1 offense • Orange-Orange check on feedback form – 2 offenses • Red- Red behavior slip – 3 offenses • Each student that is on yellow , orange, or red has the chance to move his/her clip back up during the day if I catch them making better choices • Bears to bed • High fives • Buckets • Filling and dipping

DIBELs: FSF- First Sound Fluency (oral) Tested in Fall/ Winter • phonemic awareness skill • Students receive either 2 points for saying the initial phoneme of a word (e.g., saying the /s/ sound as the first sound in the word street) or 1 point for saying the initial consonant blend (e.g., /st/, /str/ in street), consonant plus vowel (e.g., /si/ in sit), or consonant blend plus vowel (e.g., /strea/ in street) • The total score is based on the number of correct 1- and 2-point responses the student says in 1 minute

  8. DIBELs: LNF- Letter Naming Fluency Tested in Fall/Winter/ Spring

  9. DIBELs: NWF- Nonsense Word Fluency Tested in Winter/ Spring PSF-Phoneme Segmentation Fluency (oral) Tested in Winter/ Spring *If child does not benchmark on a given test, progress-monitoring will take place every 2-4 weeks*

Kindergarten Curriculum: • Math: Math Expressions curriculum, ST Math • Calendar: Days of the week, months, #chart, money practice, pattern practice, place value practice, DIBELs practice • Literacy: StoryTown, Orton-Gillingham, Chipeta’s Leveled- Book Room • Writing: Writer’s Workshop, Writing Workshop, Step-Up to Writing • Units of Study: • ABC book, Personal Narrative, Pattern Book, All About Book, Opinion/ Persuasive writing, Letter writing, Informational Paragraph, Research Project, How-to- Book • Science: Science Kit Units of Study: • Five Senses, Balls and Ramps, Plants, Temperature/ Weather, Butterflies, and Animals

  15. Snack & Lunch Time • We have a 15 minute snack breakWe share snack and usually eat crackers. I LOVE when parents send in healthy choices  Please let me know first. • We have a 20 minute lunch break from 11:35 – 11:55. Don’t be surprised if your child does not eat as much as he/she does at home. Please send in cold lunch or have your child buy hot lunch. You can put money on your child’s lunch card on-line or send in a check.
