Now What? • Need to re-emphasize reporting • Are we too focused on the schedule that we forget to look at the activities that make up the schedule? • Need to continue focus on new employees and students • Need to continue focus on Pre-Job Briefings • Need to focus on avoiding soft tissue injuries • Specific training for groups that perform material handling • What about subs? • long term subs share our culture • Subs are reporting injuries • Civil construction injury rates are low: TRC – 1.9, DART – 0.38 • But significant near-misses • Job planning/recognition of hazards in workplace is a concern • Changes to contract requirements, will evaluate effectiveness in FY13 • Using pre-bid & pre-performance meetings to emphasize expectations
