Implementing a Tobacco and Nicotine Free Center • Jacobs Creek Job Corps
Jacobs Creek • President – Brittany Cox • Vice President - Rhys Lowe • Secretary - Matt Ingles • Sergeant At Arms – Kenyawner McCann • Treasurer – David Schweitzer
Our Concern is Student Health and Loan Sharking Students are using tobacco products and other items such as snacks to make excessive profit gain.
Our challenge is to make our campus tobacco/nicotine free We need to accomplish this because it will help stop “pay-day” bullying and will also keep students healthy in the long-term and short-term
This is an important challenge for the SGA to address. • When students loan shark it takes away from students to buy the important necessities that they need • It directly correlates with Healthy Eating and Active Life Styles (H.E.A.L.S) • Second-Hand smoke negatively affects everybody around the smoker • It will save money
Our center has issues with smoking. With this plan, we will remove smoking completely. In Conclusion Specific- Remove smoking areas Measurable- Reasonable time ranges for completion (Nov. 18 2013-Sept. 2014) Attainable- Through education, alternatives, and support. Realistic- A Tobacco and nicotine free center will keep everyone, both students and staff, healthy. Timely-This will be a lengthy program, and in the end it will be worth it.
How will we know we have accomplished our goal? We will know we have accomplished our goal by the breathable air, cigarette butt free ground, and when we have no students in our TEAP classes. We will also know we have succeeded on September 22 of 2014, when the center is (hopefully) labeled as tobacco free and nicotine free center.
