  2. Purpose of presentation • To provide background to Belfast city • To provide information on strategies and structures for sport in Belfast • To outline some sports programmes delivered • To highlight our problem • Short video - challenges and achievements

  3. Background to Belfast • Urban area population 267,374 • 20% aged under 16, 20% aged 60+ • 1.4% from an ethnic group • 39% people have poor health or long term illness • 24% people have limiting health problems • 42% people have no qualifications

Background to Belfast • 8 of the 10 most deprived electoral areas in NI • 9 worst electoral areas in terms of health in NI • 82,986 experiencing income deprivation • 30,119 experiencing employment deprivation • 88 interface areas between communities • Best city in the UK in which to live (quality of life)
