SHADOWS • Shadows are an easy way to add eeriness to a thriller film because it shows that somebody is creeping around in the darkness. It also can be used to show the inner darkness of the character. BLACK AND WHITE • Some thriller films are in black and white because this adds a level of eeriness and they often appear quite dark. Using black and white can also emphasises the use of shadows. Flash backs • Flashbacks are a good way of showing a characters history. It gives the viewer a greater understanding of why the character may be acting the way they are. They can also be used to give a sense of time. Low key lighting • Having low key lighting in a thriller film gives the audience the feeling that there is not going to be a positive outcome.
