Learning Objectives • WALT identify the different organ systems in a human body and state their functions. • WILF are the RESOURCES [web or textbook] which describe and discuss human organ systems.
Activities [3rd September 2014] • You will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will present a major organ system using laptop. Picture is provided and the information could be extracted from the text book or internet resources (cite the reference). • Each group will be assessed using the form similar to the one we used yesterday. • To begin with, you are going to watch the introductory video.
Group work Please include your answers [responses] to following in your presentation of the organ system assigned to your group: • What is the function of the system? • How does the system work? • What are the organs in this system? • Label the picture provided
Circulatory System Internal distribution of materials [organs: heart, blood vessels, and blood]
Respiratory System Gas exchange, i.e. uptake of oxygen and disposal of carbon dioxide [organs: lungs, trachea and other breathing tubes]
Digestive System Food processing [organs: mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, intestines, anus]
Nervous System Coordination of body activities; detection of stimuli and formulation of responses to them [organs: brain, spinal cord, nerves, sensory organs]
Excretory System Disposal of metabolic waste [organs: kidneys, urinary bladder, urethra]
