  2. Nuestro país al igual que cualquier país del mundo se divide en periodos o etapas, según ocurren los acontecimientos históricos. Estos son: Historia Antigua o Precolombino (desde el poblamiento inicial hasta 1502). Conquista (1502 – 1575) Colonial (1575 – 1821) Republicano (1821 – 1948) Contemporáneo (1949 – hoy)

  6. Primera Etapa de conquista Exploración de las costas Establecimiento de pueblos de corta duración. Sometimiento de indígenas que vivían cercanos a la costa, en Nicoya fue el primer lugar que se dio la explotación indígena.

  7. Segunda Etapa de Conquista Los conquistadores ingresaron al interior del territorio nacional. Crearon poblaciones más estables. Obligaron a los indígenas a despojarse de sus costumbres y tradiciones imponiéndoles la religión católica, el idioma español y la forma de vida europea.
