  2. What countries are on borders of Vietnam? • The borders of Vietnam are Cambodia, Laos and China. Those are all of the borders of Vietnam.

  3. What is the climate like? • Vietnam has a tropical monsoon climate ,with humidity averaging 84% throughout the year. However, because of the differences latitude and the marked variety of topographical relief, the climate tends to vary considerably from place to place. • Area and boundaries: total: 329 560km2 land: 325 360km2 water:4 200km2

  4. What is the capital city of Vietnam? • Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. It lies in the blue river Delta in Vietnam’s central North. As of the end of 2007,Hanoi had a population of 3.4 million people. • Hanoi has been the capital city of the country for almost 1000 years. Its name has been changed several times variously including Dai La ,Thang Long, Dong Do and Ha Noi.

What is the geography of Vietnam? • Vietnam is located in the south eastern extremity of the Indochinese peninsula and occupies about 331,688 kilometres, of which about 25 percent was under cultivation in 1987. The S-shaped country has a north-to-south distance of 1,650 kilometres and is about 50 kilometres wide at the narrowest point. With a coastline of 3,260 kilometres, excluding islands, Vietnam claims 12 nautical miles as the limit of its territorial waters, an additional 12 nautical miles as a contiguous customs and security zone, and 200 nautical miles as an exclusive economic zone.

What system of government is in place? • The socialist republic of Vietnam (SRV) is governed through a highly centralized system dominated by the Vietnamese Communist Party (VCP—Viet Nam Cong San Dang). As the force controlling the system, the party exercises leadership in all matters. The government manages state affairs through a structure that parallels the party’s apparatus, but it is incapable of acting without party direction. All key government positions are filled by party members.

  8. What is the traditional dress of Vietnamese? • People in Vietnam wear cotton clothes. Styles differ in northern and southern Vietnam. Many people wear sandals made out of old tire rubber .Many man and women wear western styled clothing. Some women still wear the traditional au dai. In most rural areas wear western clothes too. The Vietnamese typically wear lightweight clothes. City men generally wear western-styling clothes.
