To help students reach their own learning, earning and living goals. Personal Learning Plans • One plan including ALL curriculum, extra curricular activities and community activities. • PLPs guide the student to the “best” your school district has to offer to meet their individual goals.
Why a 7-12 and Postsecondary Plan? • Teaches about transition through our education system. (Each year is not an isolated event.) • Research indicates many students have college plans but are not taking courses to meet entrance requirements. • Work-ready and college-ready looks the same in the 21st century. • It’s more difficult to plan ahead if you start at the end!
Personal Learning Plans are a Process • Begin with discussion and goal setting • Parental Involvement is vital • Create a plan, update yearly based on any change in goals. • Transcript Review for a reality check
