  2. Status • Fixed platforms (8) • Research vessels (5) • Drilling rigs (1) • Several coast guard ships (not out at GTS) (Little changes since 2010)

  3. Fixed platforms, drilling rigs and MIKE (YME + Ormen lange) • The Norwegian fixed platforms and drilling riggs are placed in the North Sea and in the Norwegian Sea (sending 8 or 24 observations per day). • Ormen Lange new in 2009

  4. Research vessels • G.O. Sars (LMEL) – North Atlantic – VSAT • Johan Hjort (LDGJ) – Norwegian Sea, Barent Sea – VSAT • Håkon Mosby (LJIT) – west coast, Svalbard – VSAT • FF Jan Mayen (LAHV) – Northern coast, Svalbard, 80 N – Inmarsat/Iridium. Upgraded in 2009 from 8 to 24 SHIP per day. • Dr. Fridtjof Nansen (LGWS) – west Africa (equator) – VSAT

  5. Status • Total VOS 2010: 30 316 • 2010: 96 % from AWS, 4 % from manual • 2009: 96 % from AWS, 4 % from manual • 2008: 96% from AWS, 4 % from manual • 2007: 92 % from AWS, 8 % from manual • 2006: 89 % from AWS, 11 % from manual • AWS on new coast guard boats has been implemented.

  6. Future plans • AWS on a new icegoing research vessel from the Norwegian polar institute (The former Lance). Delay +- 5 years. • New oil rig at YME-field starting observations soon now in 2011. • The Snow white field? • Hourly datacollecting from the offshore installations

  8. Future plans • 11 ships sailing continuously from Bergen to Kirkens (Hurtigruten). Great potensial for met. data – SST, wind, pressure. • Ferries (Oslo – Denmark, Oslo – Kiel)
