Expectations What good Mathematicians do!
GRIT hard work to meet the adversity of rigorous expectations Persistence and perseverance in overcoming rigorous expectations passion for long-term goals the determining factor for success no matter where you natural abilities lie the get it done personality sticking with it where others might be distracted by boredom, failure, adversity, or plateaus
GRIT will take time requires dedication requires willpower requires sacrifice requires pushing your mind to the max can be beat by temptation is worth it when you look back from your goals
Tests Given at the end of a Unit Study guides will be given Will be cumulative Accounts for 40% of the grade
Quizzes & Small Projects Given periodically throughout the marking period Quizzes mastery of one or two concepts Redo for performance below a 75 Accounts for 30% of the grade
Homework • Given almost every night • Accounts for 20% of the grade • Will be posted on teacher web site at the end of every day. • Will be checked every night for completion announced when graded for completion and accuracy • Do now/ Homework quizzes
Benchmarks Study guides will be sent home Exam will cover the units learned for each marking period Will count for 10% of grade
Extra Credit Up to 2 points of the overall grade can be earned back Cannot push a student over full credit. Engaging activity throughout the marking period
Grades Tests: 40% Quizzes: 30% Homework/Classwork: 20% Benchmark Exams 10% Extra Credit +5%
Character Education Will be taught by Homeroom teacher Bullying and normal conflict Passive aggressive and assertive behavior Using “I” messages Reporting or ratting Bystander strategies Conflict resolution steps Social decision making/ Social problem solving Cheating and plagarism
