  2. BIOGRAPHY • BORN – ROBERT ALLEN ZIMMERMAN • May 24, 1941 – in Duluth, Minnesota • Started several bands in High School • Attended University of Minn. • Early influences – Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson

Bob Dylan • Various incarnations of Bob Dylan • Early Rock – Imitated Little Richard on Piano in High School • Folk / Country / Blues– his breakout Genre • Protest songs – Social Commentary • 1965 – went electric to mixed and often hostile reviews • 1966 Went country with John Wesley Hardin, Nashville Skyline, Blood on the Tracks, Desire • 1979 Born again Christian – Slow train Coming, You Gotta Serve Somebody • 1980s Touring – 200 dates a year • 1988 the Traveling Wilburys – Tweeter and the monkey man • 1994 – Back to folk blues roots
