Bob Dylan • Born May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota • Birth name Robert Allen Zimmerman • Singer-songwriter, musician, author, poet, and artist. • Many of his songs used as Civil Rights and anti-war anthems.
Education • Attended Hibbing High School. • Studied rock and roll at the University of Minnesota; but later formed an interest in American folk music.
His beginning • The Shadow Blasters and The Golden Chords. • Performances at the Ten O’clock Scholar. • Actively involved in Dinkytown – folk music circuit. • Inspired by Woody Guthrie’s music, he relocated to New York in January 1961.

Singing to protest • Performed with Joan Baez at the March on Washington in 1963. • Walked out of the Ed Sullivan Show. • Began to feel manipulated and constrained by the protest movements.
