Author’s Purpose • The author’s purpose is the main reason for presenting a story or selection in a certain way. An author’s purpose does two things • Can be to inform to inform,explain, to entertain, or to persuade • Affects things in the story, such as the details, descriptions, story events, and dialogue • An author can have more than on purpose for writing. Vocabulary Inform – expository type of text that give information. Explain – direction on how something works or how to do something. Persuade – when you convince someone to believe in a certain way or about something. Entertain – to make someone laugh or be amused.
