  12. 1 What kind of weighted MRI is this? T1

  13. 1 What does it mean when “the tonsils herniate?” What kind of weighted MRI is this? The tonsils are the most caudal cerebellar tissues and they can bulge, or herniate into the foramen magnum. The meduallry distortion occurring with tonsillar herniation threatens respiratory drive and other essential life functions T2

  14. 1 (nucleus) What kind of weighted MRI is this? T1

  15. 1 (nucleus) What are the inputs & outputs of this nucleus? What kind of weighted MRI is this? Inputs to the inferior olivary nucleus: rubroolivary fibers from the red nucleus, spinal afferents and reticuloolivary fibers from the reticular formation. Outputs from the inferior olivary nuclei: olivocerebellar fibers to the contralateral cerebellum terminating as climbing fibers. T2

  16. Middle Cerebellar Peduncle 1 What kind of weighted MRI is this? T1

  17. Middle Cerebellar Peduncle 1 What is the source of info being sent through the middle cerebellar peduncle? What kind of weighted MRI is this? Pontine nuclei receive input from the cortex via corticopontine fibers. Pontocerebellar fibers enter the contralateral cerebellum via the middle cerebellar peduncle. T2

  18. 1 What is the main source of info being transmitted to the midbrain from the cerebellum? Where does it terminate? What kind of weighted MRI is this? Cerebellorubral fibers and cerebellothalamic fibers travel in the superior cerebellar peduncle and influence UMN systems. Cerebellorubral fibers terminate in the contralateral red nucleus. Cerebellothalamic fibers terminate in the contralateral thalamus. T1

  19. 1 What is a functional task shared by the fastigial nucleus & the vermal cortex? What kind of weighted MRI is this? The fastigial nucleus links vestibulocerebellar cortex and portions of the vermal cortex with vestibular and reticular nuclei of the brainstem. They share the task of influencing axial musculature. T2
