  2. What is Tau Beta Pi? • Second Oldest Greek letter Honor Society • The only honor society that represents all Engineering Disciplines • 234 Active Chapters with over 508,975 members

Why Tau Beta Pi? • Tau Beta Pi is regarded in academia and industry as the standard of excellence • It is the only engineering honor society to represent ALL disciplines, and thus is highly recognizable honor to all engineering professionals • Members known for their outstanding performance and limitless potential • Life-long membership: provides lifelong opportunities for recognition and honor, networking, and service

  6. Initiation Fee • Tau Beta Pi charges a one time initiation fee of $100.00 • This initiation fee goes towards National Dues, a 6” Bronze bent, food for meetings, member activities (socials, field day, initiation banquet, etc.)

  7. Chapter Activities • Outreach Programs co-sponsored with campus labs • FE Review coordination • Member Social • Professor Recognition Projects • First Annual Pi Run

Electee Requirements • Orientation Meeting • Volunteer Activities • 1 Individual • 1 Group (3 or more members or electees) • Fundraising Activity • 1 Fundraising Activity • 1 Social Event • Paperwork • Read the history packet for Tau Beta Pi (know it) • Get Member signatures • Get Advisor Signatures • Volunteer Record paperwork ALL DUE Friday, March 26th by 5 PM on Tau Beta Pi Office Door

Volunteer Opportunities • Outreach Programs • CISCOR STEM Outreach • Go to NIMS Middle School to promote science, mathematics, and engineering to students using Lego Mindstorms and other items • The Massie Chair Program • Volunteer with HPMI to promote science, mathematics, and engineering to students in Cairo through presentations • The Brogan Outreach • Promote Engineering with Dr. Oates using smart materials (Saturday Mornings)

  10. Volunteer Opportunities • Pottsdamer Street Clean Up – February 27th at 10:00 • FE Book Sale • Bake Sale • Pi Run Management • Professor Recognition Planning

Graduate Requirements • Individual Volunteer Activity Replaced by fulfilling eligibility check: • Class Rank statement showing top 1/5 standing -or- Letter of recommendation from the student’s primary advisor may be used. (Primary advisor’s signature meets this requirement). • Letter from primary advisor stating student has completed at least half of course work including research. • Completed Report of Eligibility (on website)
