Overview • Program Goals: • Assess risks of specified environment using a suite of data collection tools • Identify key areas where your environment deviates from MS Best Practices • Provide enough details to plan improvements and mitigate risks • Program Phases: • Environmental Assessment: MS personnel collects detailed data regarding your environment focusing on key known critical areas • Analysis and Reporting: MS personnel analyses data and compares to best practices, yielding reports and data reflecting key findings and risks • Remediation: Once identified issues and risks have been remediated, you should see a reduction in support incidents and improvements in infrastructure efficiencies
Project Server 2007 Review • Review Architecture/Topology • Perform a check of the platform • Patch, Hotfix and Service Pack information • Review Event logs for errors and provide workarounds/solutions • Administration review: • Cube Builds • Active Directory Synchronization • Customizations • Permissions and Security Templates • Queue Services • Disaster Recovery Review and recommendations • Knowledge Transfer • P12ACTool
P12ACTOOL.exe • What is P12ACTOOL.exe? • Series of Checks on the databases • Checks for around 22 known issues • Under what situations would the customer need the P12ACTOOL.exe • Customer to send over the DB’s first to test, else • Customer may run the tool and send the output file to the support engineer • Customer ready version available • Follow up should be conducted with Microsoft Engineer, or through Microsoft Premier Agreement
P12ACTOOL.exe • Usage Instructions • Readme instructions are available on running the script • The Microsoft support engineer has the internal readme that provides references and workarounds to the issues • What should I do if the tool detects a condition(s) that does not relate to the issue that the customer called in about? • Primary focus to resolve the issue at hand. • Provide recommendations on the next steps • Most of the issues detected are bugs • Open separate cases as ‘non-dec’
