Web 1.0 Web 2.0 Wiki
Working collaboratively Why? • Its part of the 21st century workplace • It’s a graduate capability of La Trobe University • It is assessed in the degree programs and SOC2APC
Working collaboratively What? A wiki is “a website where users can add, remove and edit every page using a web browser …” Tim O’Reilly, http://www.oreillynet.com/network/2006/07/07/what-is-a-wiki.html
Working collaboratively • Web 1.0 is mainly static, the “read-only Web” • Web 2.0 is non-hierarchical, • transparent, the • “read-write Web”. Wikis are part of Web 2.0 Blogs, wikis, image sharing (flickr.com), video sharing (youtube) are described as Web 2.0, social software, or conversational technologies.
Working collaboratively Web 2.0 means readers are writers, consumers are producers. Wiki collaboration is great for projects, for group communication and co-construction, and for university learning. The SOC2APC wiki is http://soc2apc.wikispaces.com/
