University Zombie Plan In February 2014 the sophomore class of the University of Dayton Army ROTC class was given an assignment to do a terrain analysis of the university. This analysis would help in developing a defense plan against a viral outbreak with symptoms best described as zombies. They had to critically think about not only re-animated corpses but also the panic that would ensue with the general public and how best they could defend the university. The following slides shows the situation and their plan.
Terrain Analysis Practical Exercise Terrain Analysis is -The collection, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geographic information on the natural and manmade features of the terrain, combined with other relevant factors, to predict the effect of the terrain on military operations.
Use each element of OAKOC in planning defensive operations. • Locate key terrain • Incorporate obstacles understanding their Purpose/Effects • Understand and use of the terrain for both offensive and defensive considerations • Understand and use the three categories of terrain mobility • Consider the effects weather can have on operations (Five Military Aspects of Weather)
SITUATION • Currently the city of Cincinnati is experiencing a viral outbreak with symptoms best described as a “Zombie outbreak”. • The University of Cincinnati has provided UD an informational video to assist in developing a defense strategy. • The University of Dayton Police and Emergency services fears this virus will spread up the I-75 corridor to Dayton and UD. UD Police has requested UDROTC assistance in preparing a defense plan to secure the University and conduct a terrain analysis. • You have whatever resources you can find on campus (that includes a secure water supply (fountain KU field), 60 cadets, 40 M16 rifles, 5000 rds. of ammo, and 50 cases of MREs. • Wright Patterson Air Force Base is closed and will not allow anyone to enter or leave. • The city of Dayton Emergency services can not provide any assistance. • The local hospital can not provide any assistance. • UD Police have started posting the following signs
