The start of this event is John Hay had an idea to open the doors in 1899. At that time all western powers had special interests in china. All of the power was trying to get the trading rights for them self's
As a result of this event John Hay sent notes to all nations competing powers, asking them to trade with China. The competing powers all accepted the proposal and the signed treaties agreeing to observe the open Door Policy.

As a result of his thinking all choices were the right choice. The money that he invest in his party paid off because he protected the foreign products and his business grew.
