Who are we? • Organisation of disabled and older people. • London Wide membership. • Independent of Transport providers. • Represent users of Dial –A-Ride and Taxicard.
What do we do? • Campaign to make transport accessible. • Provide advice and information – act as Advocates. • Lobby decision makers for genuine and effective consultation.
‘Nothing About us without us’. Services will only work properly for disabled people if the users themselves are involved in the design and monitoring of them.
What exists? • Partnership boards. • Access groups. • Working groups. • Consultation committees.
Mobility Forums In our 1999 Mayoral election campaign manifesto, we wrote: "We urge the establishment of Mobility Forums in each borough…. These Forums should not only be the vehicles for dialogue and consultation on each council's transport strategy and its delivery, but should also be concerned with reviewing and monitoring all aspects of accessible (including door-to-door) services in each borough."
The Mayor’s Transport Strategy. July 2001. “Accessibility/Mobility Forums will be developed at the local and London-Wide level, enabling users to be involved in the process of developing London's Transport services and ensuring that people's needs are properly taken into account.”

Benchmarks Agenda • Strategic issues. • Individual problems dealt in Transport surgery. • Strong input from disabled and older people. • Deal with accessible transport, e.g. Dial-A-Ride and Taxicard. • Local and London wide matters. • Consultation and monitoring.
Benchmarks • Meet at least three times a year. • Formal constitution and Terms of reference. • Open meetings or Annual open meeting which elects a steering group. (meet 5/6 times). • Publicity and outreach strategy. • Proper allocated budgets.
Where now? • L.I.P.S evaluated by TfL • Benchmark standards on Mobility Forums reached. • London wide forum.
