News from Ms. Taylor Upcoming Events March March 3, 2014 Read Across America Dr. Seuss’ Birthday March 10-14, 2014 Staff Appreciation Week March 18, 2014 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Administration Building Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) Meeting March 2014: CBI to Heritage Farm Museum TBA March 31, 2014 Student Holiday/Teacher Workday Save the Date: April 4, 2014 BST 80’s Spring Dance What We’re Learning! We have been working hard this third quarter and my team couldn’t be prouder of the improvements our students have made. We brought fractions to life with our pizza and cookie cutting activity. The students worked on measurement by making homemade play dough for our classroom. The month of March brings a variety of hands on learning activities. Ms. Kristie is excited to bring a non-fiction story to life by demonstrating a safe volcano eruption! In science, we will use a variety of pasta shapes to make a model of the lifecycle of the butterfly. Happy birthday to Aaron! His Birthday is March 23rd. Classroom Tidbits Our class has been learning about Community Helpers and enjoyed a visit from the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Department. The students were able to see the EMT and Ladder trucks (which were yellow, not RED!) as well as participate in demonstrations from the fire department modeling the protective gear they wear. Please check the school website and find my class page to see pictures from the visit. Thank you for your classroom donations. We can always use extra hand and cleaning wipes, glue sticks, and shared healthy snacks. Please make sure we have extra sets of clothes on hand for emergencies, and please remember to check your child’s folder/backpack daily!
