  1. Questions Jesus Asked! “Except this Foreigner?”

  2. AS JESUS WAS TRAVELLING • Luke 17:11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. • Luke 17:12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance

  3. THEY CRIED OUT IN FAITH • Luke 17:13-14 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” 14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. The word translated “master” is the same one Peter used (Luke 5:5) and means “chief commander.”

  4. ONLY ONE OF THEM… • Luke 17:15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.

  5. EXTRAVAGANT THANKS… • Luke 17:16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. • Psalm 107:22 (NIV) Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy. • Hebrews 13:15 (NIV) Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.

  6. Psalm 116:12-19 (NIV) 12 How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. 14 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. 16 O Lord, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant; you have freed me from my chains.

  7. 17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord. 18 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the Lord— in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord.

  8. HEALED & SAVED • Luke 17:17-19 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

  9. Romans 1:21-25 (NIV) For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

  10. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen
