  2. Bladder • Bladder - Organ that stores urine after its formation by the kidneys. It consists of three layers: a lining of mucous membrane

  3. Kidney Kidneys Kidneys - paired organs whose functions include removing waste products from the blood and regulating the amount of fluid in the body. • Kidneys - paired organ whose functions include removing waste products from the blood and regulating the amount of fluid in the body.

  4. Ureter • Ureters- A pair of ducts that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

  5. Urethra • Urethra - tube for discharging urine, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body.

  6. Summary • These four things all work together to create the Urinary System. The Urinary System keeps chemicals in balance. Those chemicals are potassium, sodium and water. It also removes a type of waste called Urea from the blood. When foods containing protein break down into the body Urea is produced. It is carried through the blood stream and to the kidneys.
