    3. What is Curwin and Mendler Model? Flexible program Teaches responsible thinking, cooperation, mutual respect, and shared decision-making. Spend less time dealing with behavioral problems. Spend more time on positive interactions with students.

    5. Basic Principles Rules must make sense. Always treat students with dignity. You can be fair without always having to treat every one the same. Be a model of what you expect.

    6. Advantages Designed to help the �behaviorally at-risk� student. Caring, warmth, respect, concern and empathy. Better instruction techniques - structured. Enhance learning.

    7. Disadvantages Blame Too much emphasis on student-control. Not a simple approach to classroom discipline.

    9. Opinion This model would provide the schools and teachers with classroom skills and techniques that will enable them to spend less time dealing with behavioral problems. More time on positive interactions with students. Allow teachers more planning for their instruction. Effective communication. Reducing violence.
