Workgroup Tasks • Review the participant workbook – update with information on electronic banking and make edits • Assess existing situation – found variance in length of session & content; fees for participants and financial institutions

Workgroup Recommendations forGet Checking • Title and logo to identify the program in Wisconsin • The title on the participant workbook will remain Get Checking since it is used by other states and organizations.
Recommendations – continued • A 3-3 ½ hour session with the goal of teaching the “need to know” skills and concepts for successfully managing a checking account and related products. • Money management concepts/skills are highlighted in Chapter 4 but not covered in detail
But…money management is essential! • Agreed! Money management is important but needs adequate time devoted to it. • It is highly recommended money management be taught in a subsequent session – either directly following GCW or at another time.

Recommendations (cont.) • Fees for Financial Partners • The fees for financial partners will be determined at the local level. • Some things to think about: • The expenses involved in offering GCW (workbooks; printing; calculators; refreshments, etc.) • Develop a budget based on those expenses with program partners.
Participant fees • The recommendation is for a standard fee of $20.00. • A lower participant fee may be subsidized through scholarships funded by financial institutions or other local contributions
