  2. Adequacy of Reception Facilities • Regular Facility Inspections • Real-Time Online Database • Investigations of Reported Inadequacies • Certificate of Adequacy Validity

Regular Facility Inspections • Conduct outreach with local stakeholders • Emphasis on ensuring compliance with COA during regular/annual inspections • Examination of reception facility Declarations of Inspection (DOIs) • Examination of Waste Stream Logs • Required under RCRA • Copies of manifests • CG should seek cooperation of local environment agencies

  4. Real-Time Online Database • Coast Guard Maritime Information Exchange (CGMIX) • Populated with information contained in COAs • Updated “real-time” • http://cgmix.uscg.mil • Any and all feedback is welcome

  5. Certificate of Adequacy • Regulation Project for 5-year period of validity • CG field units re-issuing COA with 5-year periods of validity when conducting annual inspections

  6. Reporting Inadequacies • Coast Guard will investigate all reports of Inadequacies • Investigations of reported inadequacies have only revealed miscommunications between vessel, vessel agents, facilities • Reports are more “actionable” if received at the time of incident • Immediate reports of inadequacies should be reported to the COTP
