  1. Sputnik Sputnik was Launched feburary1st195It was the 1stearth satellite of the united states. With a mass of 13.97 kg, it was one of the largest satellites to be launched before this time It was also the first spacecraft to recognize the Van Allen radiation belt. This project was started to put an American satellite into orbit during the international geophysical year and it lasted 111 days.
