  2. Childhood • He was born January 15, 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia. • Religion was very important in the King household.

  3. Family • His wife was Coretta. • They had four children named Yolanda, Martin Luther III, Dexter, and Bernice.

  4. Education • In June 1948, he graduated with honors from Morehouse College. • In 1955, he received his Ph.D. from Boston University.

  5. Accomplishments • He was valedictorian and he won the Pearl Plafker Award for most outstanding student. • He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott. • He helped start the Civil Rights Movement.

  6. Death • Martin Luther King ,Jr. died in 1968 Memphis, Tennessee.
