Partnership formed with NPS Property Consultants Ltd Additional capacity added to the team and improved accommodation to move forward with critical issues as identified by the Audit Commission Capital Programme/Backlog maintenance/disposals programmes all reviewed and progressing Rolling programme of condition survey’s well underway Improvements on rent reviews and lease negotiations achieved Asset Management

The Council has been awarded ‘Charter Plus’ for its work in Member Development The activities of the Standards Committee has been short-listed for the LGC ‘Standards & Ethics Award’ ‘Get Involved Fair’ held in October involving partner organisations Greater interaction with young people in ‘promoting democracy’ through the ‘We Pledge’ Standards Competition, production of new posters for publicising Members’ Surgeries and the ‘Question Time Event’ held on 15 October Potential Councillor Event held on 10 February 2010 Democratic Services
Key contribution made to achieve level 3 UOR score for KLOE on Workforce Development – “Exceeds minimum requirement - performs well” Saving of £2.3m through vacancy management, voluntary redundancy, restructuring/reviews Signed the skills pledge - provision of NVQ training across the authority Initiated robust performance monitoring arrangements Successful TUPE transfer of staff to NPS Employee Engagement and Communication Strategy launched Continue to support young people - increasing future employability Gained commitment status to IIP Human Resources
Community Development • Positively engaging with Young people - North Lowestoft skate park constructed and opened, Youth Question Time Event to provide challenge to the Districts key decision makers and shakers; Youth Council formed providing young people from all social backgrounds with a democratic voice to inform the decision making process e.g. medium term budget setting process. • Holocaust Memorial – raising awareness and commemorating the people and minority groups that have suffered as a result of genocide's. • Marginalised Workshops held to engage with minority groups to promote assess to services and to cascade learning, knowledge and information across the Council and partners. • Community Engagement Forums are held across the District to facilitate consultation and engagement with our communities. • Community Safety – working closely with partners particularly the police to make Waveney a safer place – supporting the new SNT panels.
Performance • Improved Council performance - resulting in a UoR level 2 score and CAA Organisation Assessment level 2 score. • Continuous Improvement – updating processes, procedures and standards e.g. data Quality and Performance Management Framework and Risk Management to work toward level 3 standards and ultimately improved services. • LSP Developments – Extensive consultation held to inform the new 20 year vision for Waveney through the Sustainable Community Strategy, with developing Action Plans to deliver key priorities. LSP restructured to deliver the strategy and plans.
