As you have learned… An INFINITIVE is a verb that has not been conjugated. You can tell it is an infinitive because no person, place or thing (noun) is doing the action of the verb. Examples: To run To eat To dream To sing To CONJUGATE a verb means to change a verb from its infinitive form to match the subject of the sentence. Examples: I run, you run, she runs We sing, they sing Mary eats Mary and John dream.
What You Need To Remember… When you conjugate a verb, you must match the ending of the verb to the subject. The subject can be a person (proper noun or pronoun), place, or thing. Below is a chart that shows conjugation subjects, both in English and Spanish.
Present Tense of “AR” Verbs All verbs, action words, in Spanish belong to a family. All “AR” verbs belong to a family called first conjugation. Verbs whose infinitive ends in –ar are called first conjugation. How to conjugate “AR” Verbs
Step 1- Identify the “AR” verb. Hablar = to speak/talk
