Our Classroom • 4th Grade – Reading lesson • Ms. White (ECE) comes in to the room during reading • Ms. G (reg. ed) and Ms. White split the class in half and teach the same lesson at the same time with smaller groups. • The groups are mixed, there are ECE students in both • Students are familiar with this routine and these groups
Today’s Lesson • Figurative Language Idioms • Standard:L. 4.5 • Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings. • Objectives: • I can distinguish between literal and figurative language • I can illustrate what an idiom says and state what it literally means
In your small group... 1. introduce idioms 2. Provide examples of idioms 3. Pick an idiom and illustrate it • State its literal meaning 4. Share your idioms with the class and distinguish between the literal and figurative language on your poster
