Anthropogenic Climate Change ….why do we believe this crap?
Al Gore’s Ice-Core Bore to the Fore “The relationship is actually very complicated but there is one relationship that is far more powerful than all the others and it is this. When there is more carbon dioxide, the temperature gets warmer, because it traps more heat from the sun inside.”
Fundamental problem #1 - Timing Although the data shows a relationship between temperature and atmospheric CO2 concentration, the temperature always increases ahead of an increase in the CO2 concentration, not the other way around. Facts: The ocean contains around 80 times more CO2 than the atmosphere. As water warms, CO2becomes less soluble and comes out of solution as a gas.
The IPCC The International Panel on Climate Change OR The International Party of Computerised Cons
Fundamental problem #2 - Models IPCC models show that CO2 from fossil fuel burning will accumulate in the atmosphere and permanently increase the CO2by up to five times by the year 2300. However, these models do not account for the ‘lifetime’ of carbon in the atmosphere or biomass response, exaggerate many factors, and ignore biogeochemistry. Facts: To permanently double the atmospheric CO2concentration, the atmosphere needs 51 times the present amount. Burning all known fossil fuel would only produce 11 times the present amount.
Facts: Between now and 2300, all CO2 would have been cycled between the atmosphere and oceans a total of 15 times, resulting in all additional CO2being consumed by ocean life and/or turned into calcium carbonate.
If all of the science is rubbish… …then why is it widely accepted by the scientific community?
Show me the money Science is expensive and scientists the world over have historically struggled for enough funding. The majority of funding comes from government and private enterprise. This funding is always contestable. The job security of scientists can depend on winning the funding contest. Governments the world over are pouring money into climate change research. This can be extra money, or money moved away from other research.
Peer review Scientific results are published in scientific journals via the ‘peer review process’, i.e. scientists checking other scientist’s work. It is to the benefit of the scientific community to ensure that the myth of anthropogenic climate change continues. Basic flaws in the argument are continually overlooked. Global Warming → Climate Change
Human interest Natural disasters make for interesting news and attaching the cause of many of them to human activity makes it personal to us all. Emotion and ownership helps foster the myth. Government policy is often dictated by popular opinion, anthropogenic climate change is the big environmental topic in the lead up to any election. For the majority of the population, opinions are formed from the media version of science.
