  9. Energy Breakout: by Provinces USAID/AEICCELT Overview 1/07 9

  10. Transmission Summary USAID/AEICCELT Overview 1/07 10

  11. 15 Transmission: Existing USAID/AEICCELT Report Dec.2006 14 USAID/AEICCELT Overview 1/07 11

  12. 15 Transmission: Planned USAID/AEICCELT Overview 1/07 12

  13. Definition: Capacity • Expressed in kilowatts (kW) or megawatts (MW) • Rate of energy production at a single point in time • Delivered from a generator, turbine, transformer, transmission circuit, or system • Rated by manufacturer • Derated / Operating USAID/AEIC CELT Overview 1/07 13

  14. Definition: Energy • Expressed in kilowatt-(kWh) hours or megawatt-hours (MWH) • Energy production over some time period   • Measured at the point of capacity, transmission, distribution, or load USAID/AEIC CELT Overview 1/07 14

  15. Definition: Load • Expressed in watts or in kilowatt (kW) • Amount of electric demand (KW) used by customers. In a power deficit situation, demand is the predicted desired amount of electric energy used by customers. • Originates from heaters, air conditioners, lights, motors, other uses • Forecast load based on industrial loads, populations, business cycles, appliance saturation and efficiencies. • Categorized by sector or consumer class. USAID/AEIC CELT Overview 1/07 15

  16. Definition: Transmission • Expressed in km at a voltage level -  i.e. a 142 km, 110 kV transmission line • Bulk transport of electricity from large capacity centers over significant distances • Generally no access by direct end-users • Voltage levels above 20 kV: 110 kV, 220 kV,500kV USAID/AEIC CELT Overview 1/07 16

  17. Conventions • Asset classifications • Existing:  operates, or expected to operate in short-term time-frame. • Planned: has committed funded or is widely agreed-upon as required.* Is under Construction for funding. • Proposed: an asset proposed by any entity, no committed funding, not widely agreed-upon as required. • Capacity • Excludes station use. • Capacity factor:  ratio of average load to capacity rating during a specified period of time, expressed in percent. • Capacity includes private generation. • Capacity includes distributed generation such as micro-hydro, Islanded diesel gen-sets. • Load • Include DABM customers and/or private parties.
