Landforms Hindu Kush- The Hindu Kush is one of the great watersheds of Central Asia, forming part of the Alpine area that stretches across Europe and Asia from east to west. It runs northeast to southwest and divides the valley of the Amu Darya (the ancient Oxus River) to the north from the Indus River valley to the south. Helmand River Valley- The Helmand River Valley is the largest of 34 provinces in Afghanistan. It is located in the southwest part of the country. This river flows through mainly through desert region. The Helmand River is the longest river in Afghanistan, and is 715 miles long. Koh-i-Baba mountain valleys- Koh-i-Baba is located in central Afghanistan. Some of the valleys it contains are the valleys of Koladi, Kakrak, Bamiyan, Turkmen.

Kabul Museum Kabul Museum, also known as Afghanistan National Museum, was home to some of the finest collections in Central Asia. The Museum was built in 1920. Many objects from Kushan, early Buddhism and early Islam were held in the Museum. Some early manuscripts, miniatures, weapons and art objects that belonged to former royal families were also kept here.
Khyber Pass Khyber has been an important link between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Throughout history it served as an important trade route between Central Asia and South Asia. Most foreign invaders in India entered through Khyber Pass. Crossing Khyber Pass, one of the most important pass in history, is considered very adventurous.
Tora Bora Tora Bora, known locally as Spīn Ghar, is a cave complex located in the White Mountains of eastern Afghanistan, in the Pachir Wa Agam District of Nangarhar province. Tora Bora is 31 miles from the Khyber Pass. Tora Bora and the surrounding White Mountain range had natural caves formed by streams eating into the limestone.
Kabul Zoo The Kabul Zoo is located in Kabul, Afghanistan, on the bank of the Kabul River. The director of Kabul Zoo is Aziz Gul Saqeb. As of 2010, the zoo has about 280 animals, which includes 45 species of birds and mammals and 36 species of fish. Among the animals there are two lions, and Afghanistan’s only pig. As many as 10,000 people visit during the weekends.
Gardens of Babur The Gardens of Babur, locally called Bagh-e Babur is a historic park in Kabul, Afghanistan, and also the last resting-place of the first Mughal emperor Babur. The gardens are thought to have been developed around 1528 AD. It is located in the western part of Kabul.
Language The two official languages of Afghanistan are Pashto and Dari. Both are Indo-European languages. Other major languages are: -Uzbeki -Turkmen -Balochi -Pashayi -Nuristani
Government In June 2002 a multiparty republic replaced an interim government that had been established in December 2001, following the fall of the Islamic Taliban government. The president of Afghanistan is Hamid Karzai.
Jeshen Day: August 19August 19 marks Afghan independence day. Even though, Afghanistan was never a British colony, the British did have control of its foreign policy due to an agreement signed by a former Afghan King. The Third Anglo-Afghan War ended this agreement

Economy Afghanistan is one of the world's poorest countries. Many years of war and political instability have left the country in ruins, and dependent on foreign aid. The main source of income in the country is agriculture, and during its good years, Afghanistan produces enough food and food products to provide for the people, as well as to create a more for export. The major food crops produced are: corn, rice, barley, wheat, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Sheep farming is also extremely valuable.
