INTASC Standard • Standard #5: Application of Content • The teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global issues. • Name of Artifact: Contemporary Issues PowerPoint • Date: April 10th 2014 • Course: Educ 101 • Brief Description: For this assignment, we had to find an issue concerning children and schools, and inform the class about it. We created a PowerPoint over School Evacuation Plans, within the PowerPoint we explored the different things schools can use to prepare for disasters of any kind. We provided the state standards we used for this assignment and made sure to clearly explain what we were trying to get across. • Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #5, Application of Content, I selected to include our contemporary issues PowerPoint, because this assignment demonstrates our abilities to tell the rest of the class about a global issue. This PowerPoint also requires us to share new information with our peers. Our knowledge of the curriculum and content areas are demonstrated in PowerPoint very clearly
