Issues to be discussed • The current numbers and the nations/organisations participating at the moment – any issues? • Where are the big gaps in OneGeology participation? • Are there any specific issues which stop people joining? • How should we approach getting new participants? • Should we adopt a regional approach? • Are people willing to take responsibility for regions of the globe and recruit new countries? • What other options are there for increasing participation?
Current membership • 67 Nations, 11 International organizations
Gaps (state of play) Africa, MidleEast, Asia (India..), Central America, East Europe (Balcan coutries)
Ways to increase the number of countries to take part in the 1G (state of play) Promotion (website, newsletter, presentations, media…) • IGC Oslo 2008 Project based activities • OneGeologyEurope, AEGOS - African-European Georesources Observation System, Geoconnections, USGS-Geological map database… Development of the regional network • (definition of hubs – contacts or technical facilitators of the 1G initiative ) Include commercial SW vendors • (ESRI, ORACLE, Microsoft,GOOGLE ..)
