Blueprint Principles • Conserve energy and natural resources, and develop alternatives • Provide adequate and equitable services • Enhance economic vitality • Provide a variety of housing choices • Use and improve existing community assets and infrastructure • Use compact, efficient development and/or mixed land uses where appropriate • Provide a variety of transportation choices • Conserve undeveloped land and spaces • Increase civic and public engagement
2D Visualizations • Kern COG is developing a Toolkit to help illustrate Blueprint Principles, and provide design examples. • There are two types of 2D Visualizations • Static Current vs Conceptual views • Transition from Current to Conceptual view • You can use existing sample views like those on the following slides, or design custom views. • Kern COG plans to assist the development of visualizations for the different types of communities within the county. • The following slides are examples of the visualizations used by SANDAG for their Toolkit.

3D Visualizations • 3D visualizations illustrating Blueprint Principles (Smart Growth) and Transit connections • Design could be same as used in a 2D, an existing design, or custom design. Sample 3D • Kern COG expects to work closely with local officials, planners, and others to develop reasonable conceptual views of future communities • Kern COG plans to combine local visualizations to illustrate regional transit concepts. • For example we could use a 3D visualization of Ridgecrest and add an animated person boarding a Kern Regional Bus. Then jump to view of the same animated person getting of the same bus at the High Speed Rail Station in Palmdale, or Bakersfield. • These local visualizations could be added to the existing HSR visualizations.
