Related Issues • There are 4 related issues in this course. Responding to the related issues will help you with the main issue. The 4 issues are related to the 4 units we are doing and they are
The 4 Related Issues • “ Should ideology be the foundation of identity”? • “Is resistance to liberalism justified”? • “To what extent are the values of liberalism viable”? • “Should my actions as a citizen be shaped by an Ideology”?
Chapter Issues • Each Chapter is based around a single issue. • Being able to answer this question will help you to understand the material and answer the related questions

What are some specific ways language can influence ideology?
Religion is a set of formalized beliefs and practices honored by followers of that religion. Spirituality is not as formalized but involves following a set of personal guidelines in matters of religious and sacred issues. What are some specific ways religion and spirituality can influence ideology?
People who have lived in an area for a long period of time may have a relationship to the land that is very strong. Aboriginal Beliefs and the Environment (Pg 15) • Aboriginal groups have such a strong relationship to their land that it shapes their entire worldview. A worldview is a way of seeing the world • Aboriginal groups see all living things, including the land, as interconnected relationships that cannot be separated. • They see themselves as stewards of the land and do not value the corporate standpoint. • Eg. Balancing Beliefs and Values (Pg 23) • Personal beliefs can complement or contend with other beliefs, friends, family and others in society • The question of “who am I, and what do I value?” is complex. • You often have to balance many values and beliefs to come up with your own personal set of ideas on how the world should be.
