Hunters and Gathers • In the stone age the men would be hunters and the women would be gathers. • They hunted mammoths, rhinoceroses, oxen, and mastodons. • The women would gather fruit, nuts, roots, and seeds. • Back than for there technology they had an atlatls and spears. • They used the spear for killing animals and the atlatl for throwing the spear.
Farmers and Herders • A lot of animals eventually died out so they started farming. • They used sharp sticks, rocks, bones, and shells to dig up the ground. • Herders were people who had lots of sheep and other animals and also relied on them for there livestock. • They also were called nomads because they never stayed in one place.
Jericho, Catal Huyuk, and Ur • Jericho was the oldest known farming settlement in southern Asia. • Catal Huyuk had about 6,000 people that lived there they also hunted deer, boars, and wild pigs. • Ur was a huge city in the middle of the city they had a ziggurat which is a huge temple. • Out of all the grate city's Jericho was the one there the longest.
Short summary • In this chapter I learned about different cultures, different city's, nomads, hunters, gathers, farmers, herders, different beliefs, and how hard life was back when they did that.
