Office Of Resident Affairs (ORA) • Mission • To provide a suite of services including making available program resources and support, access to education and professional activities, and creating a healthy and safe environment to ensure an enriching learning and social experience for all SingHealth residents • Our major focus areas include : • 1)Promoting a safe and conducive learning environment • 2)Providing resources and services to support educational and social activities • 3)Managing events relating to appreciation of residents • 4)Attending to the recruitment of residents
The SingHealth Residency Commitment (1) • Educational & Work Environment • SingHealth and its programs will provide an educational and work • environment in which Residents may raise and resolve issues • without fear of intimidation or retaliation. Mechanisms to ensure this • include: • An office dedicated to attending to Resident affairs • Forum for Residents to communicate and exchange information on their • educational and work environment; and • A process by which individual Residents concerns may be addressed in a • confidential and protected manner.

The SingHealth Residency Commitment (2) • Program Resources and Support • SingHealth will provide sufficient institutional resources to ensure the effective implementation and support of its programs in compliance with the ACGME-I Institutional, Foundational, and Advanced Specialty/Subspecialty Program requirements. • Faculty and Residents will have ready access to adequate communication resources and technological support. • Residents will have ready access to specialty/subspecialty and other appropriate reference material in print or electronic format. Electronic medical literature databases with search capabilities will be available.

Program Resources and Support Supplementary Resident Training Fund (SRTF) • OBJECTIVE • 1. The SingHealth Supplementary Resident Training Fund (SRTF) is an interim financial provision to support residency training activities pending additional MOHH educational support funding. • PROVISION • 2.The SRTF is allocated from 1 July of the currently year to 30 June of following year. All MOHH-employed residents under SingHealth Residency Institution are eligible for this annual SRTF. For the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013, the SRTF allocated per eligible resident is SGD1000.00. • UTILISATION GUIDELINES • 3. The SRTF may be utilized only for the fees for local courses and exams that are stipulated as mandatory in the program curriculum as defined by the program director. • 4. The SRTF may be used to cover the following training activities, subject to the resident’s SRTF available allocation: • a. 100% subsidy for mandatory local courses. • 60% subsidy for examination fees (aside from in-service examinations), • i.e., resident will co-pay 40%. • c. 50% of the In-service examinations contingent to a result of 60th percentile or better • 5. The SRTF cannot be used for the same purpose more than once, where the repeated cost is incurred as a result of the resident’s failure to complete a course/training event or to pass an examination in the first instance. • 6. Un-utilized SRTF cannot be encashed or brought forward to the following year. • 7. Residents must utilize their MOHH Personal Training Fund (PTF) fully before applying for the SRTF. • **Please refer to your Program Coordinator or ORA for more info
The SingHealth Residency Commitment (3) Educational and Professional Activities 1. SingHealth will ensure that each program provides effective educational experiences for Residents that lead to measurable achievement of educational outcomes in the ACGME-I competencies as outlined in the Foundational and Advanced Specialty-Specific Program requirements . 2. SingHealth will ensure that: a) Residents participate on committees and councils which impact their education and/or patient care; and b) Residents participate in an educational program regarding physician impairment, including substance abuse and sleep deprivation.

The SingHealth Residency Commitment (4) • Health and safety • SingHealth will ensure a healthy and safe work environment that provides for: • Food services: Residents will have access to appropriate food services 24 hours a day while on duty at all institutions. • Call rooms: Residents on call will be provided with adequate and appropriate sleeping quarters that are safe, quiet, and private. • Security/safety: Appropriate security and personal safety measures will be provided to Residents at all locations including but not limited to: parking facilities, on-call quarters, hospital and institutional grounds, and related facilities.

Health and safety Parking & Access card for High Flyer Lounge Residents who wish to park their vehicle should park at the visitor lots infront of the guard house which is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Once the 6 visitor lots are full, you can either park at Wilson car park or the HDB car park at Kampong Bahru. Same rules apply to your guests & visitors. The security guard will direct any vehicle w/o decal out of the campus once the 6 visitor lots are full. (Note : As a gesture of good will, and upon directions from the security guard, we may be allowed to park in front of the 6 visitor lots should they be full. However, please keep the security guard informed so that you can be contacted to move your vehicle to make way for any car that needs to drive out of the visitor lots. Red car park lots can however be park after 5pm if vacant.) Please be reminded that the red car park lots are strictly for vehicles with Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School decal. Opening Time : Mon to Fri 7am to 5pm. If you would like to use after office hours or over the weekend, please do not hesitate give Veronica/ Louise a call to make prior arrangement to collect the security key access card for the lounge & 2 side gates. **Please refer to earlier slides for contact details
