How to Cancel a Section in Catalog Maintenance The purpose of this tutorial: Provides step by step instructions on how to cancel a Section in Catalog Maintenance Who should use it: Anyone who has permissions to update catalog information in CX Please Note: A section number can only be “canceled” after the registration period has begun. Permissions: You must have permissions in order to cancel a section in catalog maintenance Training Library Office of Academic Affairs
Log into Cars You can access the catalog maintenance screen from the Registrar menu • Choose Catalog Maintenance from the Main Menu • Enter the password “Cars” Note: you will not see the password letters appear. • Hit F1 or Enter Catalog Maintenance Screen • Insert the session For example (FA08) Hit F1 How to Cancel a Section in Catalog Maintenance
Select Course catalog and schedule and hit F1 or enter • Permissions are required for each option • Choose Query by selecting F1 or Enter
After you select [Query] • Enter a course number (ex. HRDV 6000) • Enter a catalog with the two digit year (ex. GR 08) • Hit F1 (the course information is displayed) Helpful Tips: • Courses 4000 and below are undergraduate (UG) • Courses 5000 and higher or graduate (GR)
Use your arrow key and tab to [T] for “secTion” • A list of section numbers may or may not appear. (depends on if sections were added to the course). • If yes, use your down arrow key to scroll through the listing to select appropriate section number and then press F1 • If no, hit the enter key to return to main screen
To Cancel a Section • Tab your arrow key to [Options] and press Enter • Select Cancel section A box will appear, click Yes You will be taken back to the scroll down menu Hit Ctrl C • Make sure the status of the course reflects “I” for cancellation in progress • The final cancellation will be done in the Registrar’s Office. Students will no longer be able to register for that particular course Note: If you cancel a section in error, click on [Update], then Ctrl T and select [a] for Reinstate
How to update the Course Status: click update and select appropriate information Status…..A Represents a course is currently active Status…..C Represents a course is closed and registration has reached its max Status …..I Represents the intent to cancel Status …..O Represents the course is open Status …..X (Registrar’s Office performs this feature) “X” represents a course has been officially cancelled
