Senior Letter • Distributed in January on colored legal size paper • Has dates, times, locations and regulations of ALL Second Semester Senior Activities • Each Senior gets one and has to SIGN FOR IT.
Graduation Merchandise In order to participate in the commencement ceremony, all Seniors must wear a Cap and Gown. Caps and Gowns (Graduation Merchandise) must be ordered through Jostens/Stanley’s Graduation Services (SGS).
Graduation Merchandise • September 23- SGS/Jostens will be at Southmoore Lecture Center to talk to the Seniors. All Senior English classes will go each hour. • October 1 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM– SGS will be in the Cafeteria Commons to take orders. • October 1-3 from 11 AM – 2 PM – SGS will be upstairs by the media center to take orders.

Failure to attend one or both practices can result in a Senior NOT BEING ALLOWED TO WALK at Graduation. CPR • Dustin Rhodes and Lindsey Steed CPR Training Act • Effective 2015-2016 school year • Students may not graduate until this component is met • Students can opt-out of training on a case-by-case basis – must sign an opt-out form • Students will receive CPR and AED instruction • Training conducted by certified Athletic Trainers on site
CPR • If your student is already certified and carries a card, just bring it to Mrs. Ake (SENIOR ATTENDANCE) and she can make a copy • If your student did not receive their training at schedule pick up, we will offer training once per month in the fall • Very short – only about 15 minutes • DOES NOT “CERTIFY” YOU – only gives you basic skills for an emergency situation
GRADUATION CREDITS • 23 CREDITS TO GRADUATE IN OKLAHOMA • A STUDENT MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING: • 4 ENGLISH • 3 SOCIAL STUDIES • 3 MATH (ALG 1 AND HIGHER STARTING IN HIGH SCHOOL) • 3 SCIENCE (ONE PHYSICAL AND ONE LIFE SCIENCE) • 2 YEARS OF ENGLISH OR COMPUTERS • 1 YEAR OF FINE ARTS • 1 YEAR OF AN EXTRA UNIT OF ANY OF THE ABOVE. • PERSONAL FINANCIAL LITERACY AND OKLAHOMA HISTORY ARE ALSO REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION • ELECTIVES TO REACH 23 CREDITS
CREDIT RECOVERY • WAYS TO CATCH UP ON CREDITS: • ADD A 7TH HOUR – SOUTHMOORE HAS A ZERO HOUR AT 7:15 AM TO TAKE ENGLISH OR HISTORY. THIS ALLOWS THE STUDENT TO HAVE AN EXTRA HOUR IN THE DAY TO MAKE UP .5 CREDIT PER SEMESTER. • SUPPLEMENTAL ONLINE CLASS – STUDENT CAN TAKE AN ONLINE CLASS (COMPLETE AT HOME) FOR THE EXTRA .5 CREDIT IN PLACE OF THE ZERO HOUR. • IBI CLASS – A STUDENT CAN PAY FOR AN ONLINE CLASS (MOORE SCHOOLS WILL ONLY ALLOW SEVEN FREE CLASSES DURING ANY SEMESTER) • NIGHT SCHOOL – A STUDENT CAN MAKE UP A CLASS DURING NIGHT SCHOOL AS LONG AS IT IS ONE OF THE SEVEN CLASSES PER SEMESTER • ONLINE FLEX – ANY STUDENT WHO MUST MAKE UP A CREDIT THAT THEY DID NOT PASS, MAY DO A FLEX ONLINE CLASS. • SUMMER SCHOOL – ONLY FOR CREDIT RECOVERY. ONE CLASS PER SUMMER SCHOOL SEMESTER PLUS ONE ONLINE CLASS FOR A TOTAL OF 1.5 CREDITS.

STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED A TRAVEL HOUR IN THEIR SCHEDULE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE 6 CLASSES REQUIRED BY THE STATE ON SCHEDULE. • FREE TUITION – ALL STUDENTS MUST PAY FEES AND BOOKS REGARLESS OF SCHOLARSHIPS OR OK PROMISE. • OSU-OKC – WE OFFER TWO CLASSES PER SEMESTER THROUGH OSU-OKC AT SOUTHMOORE. THESE STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED A TRAVEL HOUR IN THEIR SCHEDULE SINCE THEY ARE ON-SITE.
ALL CONCURRENT COLLEGE HOURS WILL TRANSFER TO ANY PUBLIC COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA AND TO MOST PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS OUT OF STATE. • STUDENTS WHO DROP A COLLEGE CLASS AND DO NOT PICK UP ANOTHER CLASS AT THE COLLEGE OR AT SCHOOL WILL RECEIVE A NO CREDIT (NC) ON THEIR TRANSCRIPT. NC’S WILL HAVE THE SAME IMPACT AS AN “F” ON THEIR TRANSCRIPT. • A DROPPED CLASS ON A COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT WILL BE LISTED AS A “W” FOR WITHDRAWAL AND WILL NOT IMPACT THE COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT. • SUMMER SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE BROUGHT TO SOUTHMOORE BY THE STUDENT IN A SEALED ENVELOP TO GET HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT.

TOURS ARE SCHEDULED THE LAST WEEK OF OCTOBER AND FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER • TOURS ARE OFFERED TO STUDENTS FROM THE SURVEY FILLED OUT AT SCHEDULE PICK UP
COLLEGE APPLICATIONS EARLY ADMISSION INTO COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES ARE NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 15TH. **approximately 75% of financial aid at many colleges are offered to early admission students.** FASFA – OPENS OCTOBER 1ST. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE NOT OFFERED BY AN INSTITUTION UNTIL FAFSA HAS BEEN SUBMITTED.
