FISTA, Tampere • Groups: • International • Pupils take care of visitors and assist in program • Special days • Hunger Day collection • Yearbook team • Group meets on their own, led by one or two students • Send multiple .pdf-documents to printer, who puts sections in order, gives feedback/suggestions and prints • One president in each year group – elected in May • Maximum of 5 students per class (attendance based on interest, not voted on)
FISTA, Tampere cont’d • Tukioppilaat/mentors meet during a scheduled ‘class’ time • Challenges: active students communicate with non-active, support from all teachers • No need for tasks to be very large, as long as they’re meaningful • Students introduce themselves to the staff at a staff meeting • Opportunities to make school announcements • Christmas Radio (song dedications)
Niittykumpu, Espoo • Election, election ‘coffee’ • Choose what to do with allocated/earned money • Student Council parties (chocolate for Christmas, special treat from kitchen at the end of the year)
International School of Vantaa • Nuortenakatemia-website (certificates can be produced fro extra-curricular activities) • ITK (interaktiivinen teknologia kouluissa – interactive technology in schools) • Students can take part in the school’s management team
Espoo International School • Four committees • Social • Yearbook • Fundraising • Community and service • Selected group has lunch with the principal every 1-2 months • Movie Day in December, Halloween, Vappu, Valentine’s dance • Valentine’s Day Radio (song dedications) • Learner Profile (MYP/IB) Student Certificates/Awards (idea in the making)
