Why partner in ELT Schools? • Synergy and Collective Impact for Students • Maximize Resources • State expectations re: community engagement • Tenet 6 - Family and Community Engagement: The school creates a culture of partnership where families, community members and school staff work together to share in the responsibility for student academic progress and social-emotional growth and well-being.

  4. Types of Partnerships Partner: • Shares school leadership (full integration) • Accountability, Funding, Staffing • Provides staff and leads some classes/activities for whole school, in school • Provides expanded learning experiences for some students in school or off-site • Offers location for field trips/off-site learning experiences • Provides access to individual volunteers, mentors, or tutors

Stages of Partnership Development in ELT Schools • Identify one or more partners • Together, assess student, school, community needs • Establish a vision and common goals • Operationalize your plan • Create norms and expectations for partnership • Establish shared leadership and accountability • Create a schedule and staffing pattern • Recruit and hire staff • Implement! • Assess progress and refine operations

  7. Partnership Assessment Activity • Review the Partnership Assessment. • Your team has 20 minutes to discuss. • Take note of key ideas and questions for discussion.

  8. Work Ahead • Decide if your team would like a consultation with TASC • Determine goals of partnership development work (where are you in process?) • Contact your coach and TASC by July 8thto request a consultation in July, August, or September.
