Fun facts on Mauritius! Mauritius is hugely multi-cultural. Here, Europe meets India, China and Africa all on one small island! Coming here, you’ll see many different cultures settled but surprisingly enough they are all Mauritian. Our population is roughly 1.2 million people, not including all the Mauritians around the world!
Traditional Music SEGA Mauritius is commonly known for its boisterous and lively SEGAmusic! It gets everyone dancing, everyone up and moving! Sega is a huge part of Mauritian culture and is known all through the country. In addition, there are also Indian dances or the Chinese spectacular lion and dragon ones.
Traditional Clothing Mauritius has no set traditional clothing, as it is so varied in its culture. Although, there are some traditional clothes worn at sega parties!
This is nightlife in Mauritius. These are girls wearing dresses which show off when doing dances to the sega music. This is a less flashy type of clothing worn at a get together on the beach.
ITALY!! Traditional; -Music -Dance And -Instruments… By Stefania Esposito!
Traditional Italian music! • The music of Italy ranges across a broad spectrum of opera and instrumental classical music and a body of popular music drawn from both native and imported sources. • Music has traditionally been one of the cultural markers of Italian national and ethnic identity and holds an important position in society and in politics. • Traditional Italian music is mainly; Opera • Folk & • Classical • Italy today is still known for there traditional music, but throughout the years it has started to fade away changing its opera into pop, its folk into R&B and its classical into rap, but there will always be the traditional Italian music!
Traditional Instruments! • Italy has a lot of instruments when I say a lot, I mean a lot! • Its spreads from tambourines to accordions, From violins to mandolins ,from organs to reed-pipes ,I could go on forever (but I wont). • The two main instruments are the Accordion and the Reed-Pipe. Reed -Pipe Accordion The REED-PIPEwidespread in Calabria (that's where I'm from!)The reed-pipe’s sound is given from the particular reeds and from a sack that gives back an air supply. In Calabria the reed-pipes have four/five rods, the sack is made with sheep or goat’s skin whose size is proportional to the reels. For many years the ACCORDION was an instrument in the popular and folk-dance Italian tradition. It was born in Italy, Its use is massive in the folk and popular tradition, with the Neapolitan music, and the pinch in Puglia, who recently had a big comeback.
Traditional Dance! • Italian Folk Dance has been an integral part of Italian culture for centuries. Dance has been a continuous thread in Italian life from dance through the renaissance, the advent of the tarantella , and the modern revivals of folk music and dance. • In Italian culture, the word “tarantella” evokes images of a frenzied spinning dance traditionally played at weddings. However, this popular native dance of Southern Italy has a history and myth spanning several centuries. The dance, originally an Italian folk dance of the lower- and middle-classes, has been labeled as a dance to cure sickness and as a dance of courtship. • It is considered unlucky to dance the Tarantella alone so it is often danced by couples or by two women.
