Please, don’t bring Candy Land to school. 4. exclamatory– expresses strong feeling and ends with an exclamation point • ex. We love Candy Land!
Complete Subjects and Predicates: • To be a sentence, a group of words must express a complete thought • ex. Darren’s good looks caused the girls to swoon. • In order to express a complete thought, a sentence must have 2 parts, a subject and a predicate Ex. Simple Subjects and Predicates • The simple subject tells whom or what the sentence is about • The simple predicate tells what the subject is, has, does, or feels ex. The girlsbrought their make-up to class. The two of us are going to the store. I don’t like dogs
Fragments • A group of words that does not express a complete thought but is punctuated as a sentence. • EX. In the center ring. The boy by the water fountain. Arriving at noon.
Run-ons • Two or more complete sentences that are not properly joined or separated • Ex. I love playing Candy Land it’s a lot of fun. The boy in the back row is my cousin, his name is Scottie.
