  23. The Vision • The CommandAlkon vision for Supply Chain Management is primarily focused on automating Raw Material Replenishment. • CommandAlkon proposes to build the solutions on top of COMMANDseries, Integra, CMDbatch, and Apex, along with utilizing our new data integration tool COMMANDedx. • By leveraging existing core products and markets, Command Alkon will be able to add incremental value and cost savings to its existing customer base. Integra General Session

  24. How does it work? • Basis: Replenishment system for concrete plants which will generate orders depending on inventory levels and material usage forecast based on actual concrete orders. • Interfaces: Interfaces between loosely coupled systems. (Apex, Ortec Stock Replenishment, COMMANDseries, Integra, COMMANDbatch as well as published interfaces for 3rd party vendor / supplier systems) • Accept Receipts: Send an Advance Shipping Notification from the supplier system when the truck is loaded to the customer system. On acceptance of the load by the customer the supplier system is informed of this acceptance. Integra General Session

  31. The Problems • Concrete Company Delivers 5000-6000 Cubic Yards of Concrete Per Day • 150 Customers Desiring 500-700 Loads Per Day • 10 Plants with 125-150 Trucks • 95% of Orders Change During the Day • Minor Changes in Total Amount Delivered • (1 Additional Yard = 1 Truck) • Major Changes Regarding Start Time or Amount or Spacing & Cancellations • Dynamic Elements • Weather • Traffic • Jobsite pour times • Breakdowns (Plants& Trucks) Integra General Session

  32. In Addition • Concrete is a Perishable Product • Time Windows for Plant Operation • Time Windows for Delivery to Customer • A Plant Cannot Load Trucks Simultaneously • Maximum Travel Time for Truck with Load of Concrete • Some Orders are Restricted to Specific Plants • Some Orders are Restricted to Specific Trucks • Some Orders Must be Delivered in Sequence • Drivers Should Finish at Home Plant at End of Day • All Concrete is Not the Same Integra General Session

  33. Optimization • Weather • Traffic • Jobsite pour times • Breakdowns (Plants & Trucks) • Concrete is a Perishable Product • Time Windows for Plant Operation • Time Windows for Delivery to Customer • A Plant Cannot Load Trucks Simultaneously • Maximum Travel Time for Truck with Load of Concrete • Some Orders are Restricted to Specific Plants • Some Orders are Restricted to Specific Trucks • Some Orders Must be Delivered in Sequence • Drivers Should Finish at Home Plant at End of Day • All Concrete is Not the Same Integra General Session

  34. Optimization Benefits • Plan For Future Days More Efficiently • Dispatch More Efficiently • Reduce Stress on Dispatchers • Decrease Dispatcher Learning Curve • Increase Consistency of Dispatching Company-Wide • Save 10 Minutes Per Load Per Truck Per Day • Trucks Deliver 4-5 Loads Per Day • Conservative Annual Savings of $400k • Maintain Customer Satisfaction Integra General Session

  35. Changing the Organizational focus Integra General Session

  36. Managing the Data • Customer Misrepresentations and Inaccuracies • Not Ready When Trucks Arrive • Cannot Possibly Pour in the Time Requested • Consistency is Dependent Not Just on Customer, But Also Foreman, Site, and Type of Pour (Wall, Floor, Pump) • Do Not Know How Much Concrete They Want • Estimated Travel Time Data • Grid Size is 1 Mile by 1 Mile (5000 Mile2 Area or more) • Time Windows (Off-Peak, Morning Rush, Mid-Day, Afternoon Rush) • Travel Times Are Averages And Unpredictable • Plant Material Availability Must be kept Accurate • Material Cost records must be current Integra General Session

  37. More Managing the Data • Drivers • Do not always show up at the correct time • Do not always show up • Sometimes get in the wrong truck • Special circumstances require better communication • Maintain accurate statusing • Plants • Do not perform to capacity • Do not have the required materials available • Do not maintain the Trucks for maximum availability Integra General Session

  38. Optimization • Concept (Complete) • Develop / propose new product concept to CAI Executives • Basic Research (Complete) • Validate market requirements for RMR system with multiple customers & markets • Advanced Research (Complete) • Design initial RMR system for general market • Construction (Complete) • Develop initial RMR system • Delivery (Complete) • Deliver initial RMR system for Pilot implementation(s) – Alpha & Beta Customer(s) • Released Products • Licensed software modules Integra General Session
