  6. SAT/ACT(Pg.4-8) • PSAT- October 17th(Wednesday) • $14.00 • Sign up in the business office • SAT Reasoning/Subject Test • www.collegeboard.org • ACT • www.actstudent.org Must take the test by DECEMBER of senior year

Admission Requirements- UC’s (Pg. 15) Coursework • Complete 11 UC-approved “a-g” courses prior to senior year • Complete ALL 15-course “a-g” subject pattern by the end of senior year • Courses must be completed with a grade of C or better Grade point average • Minimum 3.00 weighted GPA (for CA Residents) • Minimum 3.40 weighted GPA (for Non-CA Residents) • Based on “a-g” courses completed in 10th and 11th grades, including summer courses Examinations • ACT with Writing or SAT Reasoning Test by December of senior year

Paths to Admission (UC) • Statewide • Top 9% of all high school graduates in California • Guaranteed a space at a UC, but not necessarily the campus of choice. • Local Context (ELC) • Top 9% of their high school class • Guaranteed a space at a UC but not necessarily the campus of choice. • General Application • All applicants will receive a complete review of their application • Students are not guaranteed a space

  10. Eligible vs. Competitive Eligible Competitive Student has gone above and beyond # A-G courses taken Honors/AP/CC High GPA or test scores Involvement • Only has minimum requirements • 3.0 GPA • Only 15 A-G courses

Comprehensive Review Factors Academic and personal factors approved by University faculty, include: Grades and test scores and: • Quality of senior year program • Special talents, achievements & awards • Promise for leadership • Recent, marked improvement in academic performance • Significant community service • Participation in student government • Intensive study and exploration of other cultures

Grade Point Average • Calculated for approved “a-g” courses completed in grades 10 and 11 • Additional grade points awarded for grades of C or better in approved Honors, AP and transferable college courses • Points for UC-certified honors courses capped at four yearlong courses (8 semesters). • No more than two year- long courses (4 semesters) of honors credit may be applied to courses completed in 10th grade.

  14. UC/CSU “A-G” Comparison • UC and CSU have agreed to adopt the same pattern of courses. • There will continue to be some differences in admissions practices. • Refer to UC-CSU comparison matrix online for similarities and differences.
