Repetitions • Word choice means finding new and different ways to say something. • He went to the store and then he went to the manager. Then he asked where the bread was. He went to find the bread his wife asked for. • If you have already used the word once, try to find another way to put it~ • He walked to the store and then he strolled over to the manager. Make it exciting to read! • Word choice is also about finding vivid or picturesque ways to describe objects. • Common adjectives such as big, small, sad, and happy can be boring and overused. Try to find more unique and interesting words instead ~ enormous, miniscule, melancholy, and ecstatic can be more interesting. • Consider adverbs and verbs too. Make them as exciting as possible. Boring is not fun to read; make it as readable as possible.
Keep it Meaningful • If the word doesn’t match what you are trying to say, it is a bad choice. • Choose a word that makes sense. If you are unsure what a word means, look it up in a dictionary. • Just because a word is big, doesn’t mean it is a good fit.
